Should I do anything on Valentine's Day for this girl that I think is cute?

Well, Valentine's Day is here again and I'm single, not really looking... But there is this one girl in one of my classes who is cute and funny, and I think if I did anything for anyone it would be her. I don't know her super well, but we've talked in class and went to the museum for a class assignment together and got something to eat afterwards. She might even have a boyfriend, I don't know. Well, I thought of writing her a cheesy but sweet little poem to appeal to her good sense of humor, I've thought about making her a little card with dried flowers that I collected, and I've also thought about making a puzzle game with riddles where she has to figure out who's got a crush on her on Valentine's Day (the answer would be me, in this case). I don't know, though... I'm running out of time and even wondering if I would just be wasting my time with any of these things. I'd love to hear your advice, especially if you're a girl. Which of the three things I mentioned sounds best, if any?

Should I do anything on Valentine's Day for this girl that I think is cute?
Paul, the card made out of dried flowers is sooo sweet! And your poem is NOT cheesy...it's touching and cute! Why don't you make the card and put the poem inside? I would melt if I received such a gift. I love all three of your ideas...be careful, she might fall in love with you!

Reply:Ok, obviously I'm not a girl, but I've been in your shoes before (many years ago, lol) so I'll tell you what I'd do, and maybe it'll help. For starters, if you have some sort of feelings for this girl, which you obviously do, and you don't step out and try to get her attention on some level, you'll regret it later. If you do step out, and she rejects you on any level, as long as you haven't made a fool of yourself by going overboard, you haven't lost anything by trying. I would maybe go the poem route, and make it sweet, but end it with humor, that way you could always fall back on the humor aspect of the poem as a way of saying, hey, I like you, but that's cool if you don't like me, get my drift? Another thing I'd do is find out her favorite type of music and maybe make her a mix CD of some of her favorites? This shows her that you're paying attention to what she likes, and you care, but it's not going overboard, or spending money which may make her feel uncomfortable. I think the card/dried flowers idea might be a bit overboard for an ice breaker (just my opinion), and the crush game may be a heartbreaker for you if she rejects you. By coming out full force and telling her you have a crush on her, that puts her in a position of either having to accept or reject, and it may ruin any potential friendship you could have with this girl that could develop into something more over time. Don't overthink it, and just be yourself. If she likes you, she likes you, either way, it's out of your control, and you can flirt with her a bit to let her know the possibilities open for her to view you in that way... if she wants to.
