Dying plant??

I have an african violet in a small pot on my kitchen island. Its not next to the window but it gets light as I have a big bay window near it. It sits in one of those pots that you put water in the bottom and the roots absorb what they need. It was doing great and a week ago it started to turn brown and the flowers all died. Edges of leaves kinda brown on some and flowers all dry. Looks like new ones might be coming in. What am I doing wrong? What can I do better?? Like i said, its an african violet.

Dying plant??
Sounds like overwatering. African violets are susceptible to crown rot if they get too damp. That is why they have those bottom-watering pots. But the soil will often absorb much more water than is healthy for the plant.

Snip off the dead leaves and the dead flower stems and let the plant dry out a bit.
Reply:when the leaves turn brown you are over watering the plant.when you water it stick your finger in the soil about 1/2 an inch if the soil is moist do not water if the soil is dry water the plant.do not water the plant again until it is dry.
Reply:they like light but not direct sun light and you only give them very little water in the summer and i afraid this plant is doomed for the bin get another one.
