Simple Bio (PLANT!) questions for u...BIOLOGY PEOPLE, help!!!?

Ok, it sounds simple but I'm not sure...the answers are not in the book, literally!



Which fruit contains the greatest amount of seeds? Which fruit contains the most amount of seeds (out of oragne, apple, nectarine)



Explain the adaptive value for a fruit in containing a single large seed. What might be the disadvantage of this reproductive strategy?



How might brightly colored fruits benefit a plant?



And why do flower structures dry up as fruits develop?

i would say the nectarine has the most seeds

an advantage for a large single seed in a fruit would be that it is bigger so it has more food for the seed to eat= the seed lasts lives longer out of soil, an disadvatage is that its only one seed, if it doesnt germinate then the plant dosent reproduce.

brightly colored fruits benefit a plant by attracting insects/birds/people...etc... and they disperse the seed around.

aaand a flower dryes up when the friut develops because the foods energy now goes to the friut not the flower. which is not need anyway, the flower only attracted insects to diperse the pollen to ferlizes other flowers.

Reply:Apple (guess), adaptive value, all of the energy is focused into one seed instead of spread out through many, brightly colored fruits? It helps draw in more pollinators, flower structures dry up as fruits develop b/c energy is directed towards the development of the ovary instead of the flower.
