How can I dry rose petals for pot pourri?

I might not make them into pot pourri. I have another idea - I'm supposed to be getting married in 2012 (no comments about how long away it is - I have a Masters to get!) and I thought it would be nice to dry the petals off the flowers my fiance buys me between now and then. I figure I should have quite a few by then!!

How can I dry rose petals for pot pourri?
Tie a string or ribbon around the entire bouquet, and hang them UPSIDE DOWN in a cool, dry place. The petals will dry nicely right on the stem!

Congrats on the upcoming Masters and wedding!
Reply:just set them outside and spread them apart
Reply:Go to your local Hobby town or garden ridge and buy Silicon Gel. Put your flowers in the aluminum pans you buy for barb ques when you don't want to do dishes. Make sure it has a lid. Lay your flowers down on the aluminum use a table spoon and slowly pour the gel in each petal it has to be on every inch of the flower. Cover completely over the top to where no part of the flower is showing. Put it in a place with no moisture or light. It should be dried out in 15-20 days. When you remove the flowers take a fine paint brush and slowly dust off the gel. Good luck!
Reply:you tie the roses together from the stems and hang them upside down. you can make nice arrangements and decoartions while they are hanging to dry. good luck
Reply:hang them upside-down, in a cool area and wait till they dry out.
Reply:leave them in the sun????
Reply:To dry out flowers I just hang them upside down...

(congrats on your engagement!)
Reply:put them in a basket and let them air-dry.
Reply:Hang flower upside down when it just begins to wilt. Leave it for about a week. They WILL be delicate, so take care. Good luck!
Reply:I just hang mine upside down somewhere in the dark where it is dry ..like my basement...
Reply:You can dry them quite easily in the microwave on medium. Put them on a paper plate or paper towel in one single layer, about 5 at a time and microwave for 30 seconds at a time until they are dry. I don't think they will last you 4 years though....dried flowers can deteriorate pretty easily and they might very well be rose dust by then...sorry! ;)
Reply:Personally i think the best way to do it is, take a Tupperware container and fill it 1/2 way with white sand...bury your flowers in the sand, it sucks the moisture right out of them and in a day or two you have dried flowers. Just make sure you pour the sand over the flowers carefully so you don't destroy the shape of the flower,
Reply:MICROWAVE......

dont know the exact procedure

but this is one of the ways
Reply:Food dehydrator, or an oven on 170 for a few hours.
Reply:The best way to dry flowers is to bind them together at the stem and hang them upside down in a dry, cool place. Be sure to keep them away from bright light as they may fade. Once they are brittle and dry, (about a month or 2) carefully pluck them from the bulb or just leave them on for a cool dry flower look. Also, make sure to keep away from moisture or mold may build up in the flower.

By the way, VERY romantic idea. I wish my wife were this creative but I am the romantic idea person in this relationship :-)

Congratulations on your engagment and good luck with that Masters.
Reply:Whenever I dry flowers, I just tie a rubber band around their stems (with all the flowers in a bunch), and hang them upside-down from a door knob in my house. If you touch the petals gently, you can tell when all the water has drained and they're completely dry. If you want some extra "hold" to the petals, try spraying them liberally with some hairspray to hold them in good to the stems.
