Pet rat.. what should i feed him?

what shuld i feed my pet rat aas a snaack? what is there favorite dry food to eat? like sun flower seeds or some thing i just got it the other day and i dont know what he whould love to eat?

Reply:I used to breed rats and I mostly fed them cat food, fresh meat and lots of fruit
Reply:You can give it sunflower seeds, but not too many as I think they are fattening.



You can also give it pumpkin seeds and unsalted peanuts (but again, in moderation.)



Dried pasta is a good one.



Cherrios, Rice Krispies, cereals like that.



My rat likes Apple Jacks.
Reply:Well, rats will eat anything you will. I feed mine hamster/gerbil mix, as they don't sell 'rat food'. It gives them all the vitamins and nutrients they need. You can give them leftovers for treats, just remember, if its not healthy for you, it's not for them, either.

Reply:We "rat-sat" our neice's rat while they went on vacation. He liked triscuits and cheese. He couldn't keep the cheese on the cracker but he did like both LOL. (TRUE)

(I wasn't really thrilled about this rat-sitting job but he turned out to be okay afterall - saw him trying to crawl out of the cage while I was grabbing some food for him and I said "go...get back in there" and HE LISTENED TO ME!!!

Domestic rats do best on a commercial lab block type food bought at pet stores and healthy treats.

Reply:Rats are omnivors and will eat any thing, Try to stay away from high fat foods like dairy products and chocolate. Also avoid salty things like potato crisps (chips)

Fresh fruit or hard crunchy vegetables (celery or brocoli or carrots) make wonderful snacks
Reply:You should feed him pet rat food from the pet store, that has nutrients.
