Flowering pear tree?

this is the 2nd winter for my flowering Pear, last spring it produced only 3 blossoms,

now the leaves are red %26amp; falling off (normal)

but i also see buds everywhere %26amp; one of the flowers is no hard like a dried up raisin, wondering if that was a mini pear

will it flower more next spring

just wondering, so few things willl grow in zone 8, sandy, clay soil.

Flowering pear tree?
Flowering pears get more flowers as they mature. In fact the whole tree gets better with age. You probably did have a 'pear' they are only the size of your little finger nail. This one sounds like if didn't drop off and has dried on the tree. Heavily mulch your tree with organic matter (manures, grass clippings etc this will improve the soil over the years and make the soil much easier to work. Also use gypsum to break down the clay. The fact you have lots of buds sounds like you will have lots of flowers this year. I grow mine for the autumn colour. Good luck.
Reply:should flower better as it gets older.

hope it flowers well next spring
Reply:Fruit come on spurs that take at least 3 years to grow. It is starting to develop, so just shape lightly if you need to and do not cut off any tips just yet.
