Name a ground covering for the entire lawn that stays green (even in winter & dry summers). Zone 6, 80% sun.?

It will be used as a lawn replacement / lawn alternative instead of grass. It can flower or not, as long as it stays green in winter and hot summers. Sloped yard. 80% sun. Zone 6.

Purpleleaf Wintercreeper (Euonymus fortunei)

English Ivy (Hedera helix)

Persian Ivy (Hedera colchica) - marginal in zone 6, needs a protected area.

Periwinkle (Vinca minor) - will show leaf discolor in full sun.

Bugleweed (Ajuga reptans) - aggresive.

Note: Bishop's Weed (Aegopodium podagraria) is extremely aggresive, is prone to leaf scorch in summer, especially under sunny and/or dry conditions and is not evergreen.
Reply:Bishop weed
Reply:Invaluable source: SUNSET Garden Book (by zone info on ground covers). Reseach myoporum, aptenia, low-growing junipers, mosses, ice plants, ivys. To many to mention. Talk to someone at a local nursery.
Reply:Yes, what your looking for is at Home Depot, it's called indoor/outdoor carpet.
Reply:Red apple comes to mind. It stays green year round. Easy maintenance in both shade and sun and is fairly drought resistant, although it looks better when well watered. It can be propagated with simple cuttings and sticking back into the ground where you want it to grow. No need to root. It is a brilliant green with a dash of red! Best of luck fellow gardener!
