Is the sweepea flower poisonus?

I have a sweetpea flower and I notice that the pods have peas in them. Can you eat them? Or are they the seeds to dry and use for planting more sweetpeas? Thanks for your help.

Is the sweepea flower poisonus?
What a stupid and irresponsible answer the last poster gave. Yes, they can be very toxic, and the seeds even more so. Check on http://www.ces.ncsu.edu/depts/hort/consu... and also http://whatscookingamerica.net/EdibleFlo...

Some varieties are more toxic than others though.

As for using them for drying and planting next years crop - yes, absolutely! But if they are a particular F1 variety they may not come up true to form (ie. they may have slightly different flowers/height etc to the parent plant) Good luck, and stay safe
Reply:Aw, come on. THINK about that! Where do you suppose sweet peas come from? Of course you can eat them.
Reply:If you are talking about the ornamental sweet pea (which is grown for its flowers--the annual kind have fragrant flowers, the perennial do not), no, you shouldn't eat the seeds. (I do believe they are poisonous.) Only garden peas are edible (though, confusingly, they are called sweet peas at the grocery store).
