I have them under fluorescent light in my office. I feed the African Violet food, don't get the leaves wet, let them dry out well before I water again. They have great color and are very healthy looking...just no flowers. What am I doing wrong/
Why won't my African Violets bloom?
I have an African Violet that is going on 14 years old. It gets light from the morning sun. I feed it with regular houseplant food about every six months and water it underneath with warm water. One time it didn't bloom for about a year, then when I transplanted it into a little larger pot with African Violet soil, it started to bloom again.
Reply:They are simply not getting enough light. Fluorescent lights for violets do not supply enough broad spectrum of light necessary for them to bloom.
Reply:My violet is in the north window and blooms constantly! It is in a self watering container and I never feed it. In fact, it's divided itself into three new plants. Craziest thing I've ever seen.
Reply:you are putting them under fluorescent light. nothing can replace real sunlight.
