I recieved some beautiful flowers and i want to find a way of keeping them.
How do you dry / preserve roses?
Hi, use a rubber band to hold the stems together then, spray the roses with aerosol hair spray, next step is hang them upside down and let them dry for a couple of days! easy.
Reply:Silica powder. You bury the rose, just the rose in this powder available from craft stores. (do all this carefully!) Keep the powder covered....usually do this in a box...and after several weeks or month or so, careflly uncover them. There are instructions galore on the web or books at the library.
Reply:Lay them out on a table, pyramid style, like, one at the top, then two, then three, and so on, then take a piece of lace or ribbon and tie it around the middle of the stalks, bunching them together, but keeping the form of the pyramid, then hang upside down by the lace or ribbon by a nail or picture hanger. They dry and make a unique display.
Reply:Silica sand, (sp?)Hobby Lobby, Michaels. Gives directions to put the rose in a container then cover in this sand completely then somthing about the microwave.
Reply:I spray a product used to dry flowers, if not I use hairspray...then i use a thread to attack EACH flower separately and hang them upside down until they are completely dry...
Reply:Why don't you try laminating them? Even though it may flatten them, it will preserve them.
Reply:Depends how you want to dry them. I put mine in a book and put something heavy ontop till they are good and dry. You can also put a flower in a dehydrater.
Reply:i always hang then individually upside for an extended period of time...i think there are some preservative sprays for after they are completely dried...they will be very fragile though...so be careful
Reply:one sure way is to press between the pages of a book,or u can brush with egg white and sprinkle with very fine granulated sugar
Reply:Well I have done this several times. I just hung them in a bunch upside down, before they get to wilted.
