i got a flower tattoo a couple weeks ago on my inner right ankle and about a week ago my little baby accidently scratched it, and now i noticed that the area he scratched it's a little dry and scabby, the rest of my tat is healing just fine, but i can't get this area to heal! what can i do to help it heal properly? i wash it gently w/antibacterial soap and i apply lubriderm to it throughout the day..should i be doing something different?
How can i heal a scab on my new tattoo?
Continue to do what your doing. You may want to take a damp paper towel and blot the spot every so often to soften the scab so that it will fall off on it's own. It may take longer for that spot to heal but what you're doing is fine.
Reply:Don't pick the scab. Keep doing what you are doing while it heals. The area that your baby scratched may take longer to heal, or it may require a touch-up.
Only use a bandage and neosporin if you don't want to keep your tattoo. Neosporin will leech ink out of it, especially if it is a color tattoo. A bandage won't let it breathe, which is what it needs to do.
Sounds like it will be just fine.
Reply:Hello,,they should have told you at the tat shop!!keep it covered with a sterile gauze bandage and some neosporin and don't mess with it!,,,it is a wound and the ink will come out of it if you mess with the healing process,,looks nice when it's fresh but lose the ink and you'll be back for a touch up.The scabs are part of the healing process,,ain't you ever been cut or scraped your knee??do not pick the scabs!!
Reply:well, scabbing is actually normal in most cases. i have several tats and they all scabbed to one degree or another. first, be careful with neosporin, it will draw out some of the color. also, whatever you do, no matter how much it may itch, do not try to take the scab off or some of the color may come out with it. just keeping it clean will work. lotion if you like keeps it from itching as bad (itching is caused from the dryness of it). it's nothing to worry about, hun:)
Reply:The things you are doing are right, but you should also be using an ointment like bactine to keep away bacteria, infection and keep it from scarring your tattoo. This will also help keep the tattoo moist. Both tattoos I have gotten I have been told to use this stuff and it is great!
Reply:I had a similar situation when I got my tattoo in December. Stop using lotion on it. The lotion will not do anything. Use Neosporin on it and wear loose fitting clothung until it heals. Let the area breathe (no socks that touch it, no tall boots, etc.)
Reply:I would use neosporin in lieu of the lotion. Its an antibacterial and in my experience, it heals better.
Reply:put A%26amp;D on it. dont use neosporen it will take the color out
