I just got some air dry clay, and I have really only used it for coiling. What are some ideas to make out of air dry clay? How can I make flowers?
Ideas to make with air dry clay?
This is a topic worth a quarter hour with your favorite search engine. I came across your question while researching "air-dry clay". I added "flowers" to my search string and the first reply I got was a how-to site - see below.
I wouldn't make anything big. The surface probably will crack, so let it dry, then dampen the cracks and fill them, and let it dry again before painting. Remember, too, that it's brittle - I'd put off making a giraffe until you're familiar with its properties. But you could make flowers, textured beads for jewelry, figurines of animals (realistic or fantasy), small decorative dishes, etc. Good luck!
Reply:If you want the air dry clay to last longer you can add a little water. Like if you were making a rose you start with center make each petal a little larger. Try not to make duplicates as they don't look as realistic when they dry. Keep adding to your center bud until you have a rose!!!!
