How do you make a lemon tree grow from its bare seed?

i mean is it an easy thing? just get 1 single lemon seed and place it in a little pot and watch it grow? or is a matter of making sure the seed is dry? or do you put more than one seed? how many times do i have to water it? does it matter what time of the year i plant it? i know winter is coming, but if i kept it inside would it make a difference??

i know it sounds like an obvious question, but im asking for the big details on how to 'literally' make a lemon tree grow from its bare seed?

oh and how many years will it take for the little tree to grow before it begins to grow flowers for the lemons to start?

How do you make a lemon tree grow from its bare seed?
Basically, you just plant a very fresh seed any time of year in potting soil, keep the soil slightly moist and in a relatively warm place. Lemon trees need lots of sun. We have had the best luck with seed from organic lemons from the grocery store. If you find a seed that has already sprouted inside the fruit , plant thet one. The fruit probably will not be identical to the parent fruit, (you don't know who the "father" lemon was) But don't worry about the fruit being "no good" unless you are trying to make a living growing lemons. Most lemon trees start flowering when they are just a few years old. and the flowers are lovely. It's best to have more than one tree and cross polinate the flowers using a dry paint brush.
Reply:Thank you for choosing my answer. Sometimes we have to take a chance and try to do what people tell us can not be done. A lemon seed (or 2 or 3 or more) is a good place to start. I hope your lemon trees grow well. Report It
Reply:You"ll need more than luck to have that tree grow from seed.LOL Report It
Reply:I have several seedlings from lemon seeds growing right now. You can also graft a branch from a productive tree to your seed grown lemon tree, when it gets large enough, to get better lemon production. The grafting isn't difficult, just a bit of trouble. Good luck. Report It
Reply:You can not plant a lemon tree from a seed.

If you do plant a seed and a tree grows it will not be a lemon tree but a wild bitter lemon.

The lemon trees that produce fruit as we know it come from nurseries where this "wild" lemon tree has been "grafted" with the desired lemon tree species .

Out of curiosity I did a little search and found this interesting site.....I think I will try it on my tree this spring :)

Reply:can do it, but the fruit will not be any good. They need to be grafted in order to produce good fruit.
Reply:try this.. put it inbetween some cottonwool %26amp; keep it moist at all times. After a few days, lift the cotton wool %26amp; see if there are shoots sprouting from it. If there are, put the seed into some shallow dirt in a plant pot %26amp; keep watering.

I dont see why it wont work, thats how plants grow
