Along my fence I have a small flower bed the soil doesn't look good anymore. It's hard, not dark anymore. How can I rejuvenate the soil? Or should I just shovel it out and replace?
Old, dried, brown, soil in garden?
Mix in compost, manure, and grass clippings.
Reply:sound like you need to feed the flower bed. Brake up ground around plants carefully, if you can get some worms into the ground that will help . You also buy food for you flower beds from any good garden center, and of course water regularly. Hope this helps.
Reply:Just break it up as deep as you can (6-12 inches would be best) and mix some compost into it.
Reply:replace and get a bunch of worms in the soil... they really help by fertilizing the soil.
